Resorts for a party, little towns for romance, and beaches that still have no sun loungers.

For parties and families with entertainers

  • Sunny Beach – the biggest resort. Hotels, bars, nightlife until morning. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you are in the wrong place. More
  • Golden Sands – near Varna, with a wooded nature park behind the beach. A bit calmer than Sunny Beach. More
  • Albena – a tidy resort, suitable for children. The beach is wide and the sea is shallow. More

For romance and history

  • Sozopol – stone houses above the cliffs, fish restaurants and sunsets. The Old Town is at its best early in the morning, before the tourists. More
  • Nesebar – an ancient town, a UNESCO site, with more churches per square metre than anywhere else on the coast. UNESCO
  • Balchik – the palace of Queen Marie of Romania and the botanical garden with its cacti. More
  • Varna – the Sea Garden, the Archaeological Museum and evenings by the shore. More

For wild beaches

  • Irakli – between Obzor and Emona. No hotels (for now). More
  • Sinemorets – the mouth of the Veleka river, dunes and a bay. Almost at the very edge of Bulgaria.
  • Karadere and Shkorpilovtsi – long beaches with few people.
  • Koral and Arkutino – for those who bring an umbrella, water and patience.
Between us

On every Bulgarian beach there is at least one corn seller and one doughnut seller shouting β€œCorn! Hot corn!” with such energy that you can hear them from a satellite. Buy one – it is tradition.
